Guide to Medical Skin Peels
Peels are considered to be an accelerated form of exfoliation,
induced through stimulation of the skin. The peel's depth
of action makes it possible to revitalise and refresh your
skin.

Questions you may have
What is a peel?
What we call a peel is an exfoliation stimulated by a chemical
solution. It is a safe and common practice. Dermaceutic
has been working with dermatologists for several decades
and has extensive experience in this area. Peels are great
for use an anti-aging treatments, acne treatments, scar
treatments and also refresh the skin periodically. It is
healthy and necessary to exfoliate your skin on a regular
basis to promote new regernation.
What molecules do you use?
The pre-peel is done with glycolic acid which is the smallest
molecule in fruit acids. The Spot Peel contains mandelic
acid (antiseptic, disinfectant. Extract from bitter almonds);
idebenone (synthetic enzyme, anti-oxidant); emblica (fruit
extract from Indian gooseberry); retinol (vitamin A); salicylic
acid (oak bark and meadowsweet extract, makes the skin peel).
What is the benefit of a peel?
A peel in no way alters the shape of your face. It is an
entirely natural and effective procedure performed by a
professional. It is discreet, so those around you will find
you radiant without knowing why!
What happens during a session?
A session generally lasts 30 minutes and is made up of
several steps: the cleansing of the area to be treated,
the application of the pre-peel, neutralisation with water
after a specific time (depending on skin type). Then the
Spot peel is applied and massaged into the skin. The treated
area will be washed with water after 8 hours.
What are the after effects?
A few hours to a day after the session, a slight redness
to a sunburn effect will appear, depending on the type of
treatment you have received. Then, your skin will peel for
the next 4 or 5 days.
Is it painful?
During the application of the pre-peel (glycolic acid),
you will feel tingling, a perfectly bearable feeling of
heat, then everything will settle down.
What safety precautions should I take?
You should not have a chemical peel if you:
- will continue to have sun exposure
- have active herpes simplex, warts, history of delodial
scarring,
- had any type of recent facial surgical procedure
- have used Accutane in the last 6 months
